This self-initiated project grew out of a desire for a new branding challenge and a passion for experiencing America by car. ROAM Motels take cues from iconic roadside hotels of the past while delivering a modern and elevated experience.
Travel by plane and train forfeits adventures that can only be discovered by hitting the road and taking time to explore.

Animated version of my logo.
This is a custom logotype masthead for a self-initiated magazine project that has me recalling the days of open, unrestricted travel and my love for the Hawaiian islands (or any tropical island at this point).
The goal here was to craft a logotype that pays tribute to letterforms seen in vintage Hawaiian travel adverts as well as some of the more whimsical tiki-style typography seen on posters and souvenirs.
I also wanted to infuse visual cues that conveyed movement and flow, thus the curved serifs and cutaways incorporated into the stem of each letterform.

Currently prototyping the Finder in the workshop. Just need a bit more VC funding.
Adding animation and motion to my work has allowed for greater expression and provided an opportunity to acquire some new skills. I really enjoyed creating this piece.
Client Keith Rector needed an identity that captured his passion/vocation - art directing for theme parks like Disney, Universal, Marvel and more.⠀
Keith was inspired by theme park and ride logotypes from the 70s and 80s - needless to say, I had a lot of fun developing these.⠀
The finalized logotype features an exaggerated "h" ascender and extended stem for the "t" - a fun play on the campy typography of retro theme park design.
Keith applied his logotype to riso-printed tickets to add a touch of whimsy and authenticity to his personal brand.

I had the pleasure of working with Tim Harbage and Linzy Mahony on developing a custom logotype and visual identity for their craft brewery, Bright Spark Brewing, in Ventura, California.
Tim and Linzy were looking for a logo that felt both approachable and timeless in order to establish a warm, welcoming community space that possesses something for everyone.
Below the Brand Guidelines, you will see an early client presentation filled with alternate logo concepts and the original iteration of the final logo.
While working with Sony Studios, I was tasked with expanding the pre-existing Crackle identity to “Crackle Plus” in order to symbolize the joint venture between Sony Pictures Television and Chicken Soup for the Soul Entertainment.
The addition had to remain clean and iconic, yet provide some contrast to the Crackle logotype already representing the entertainment brand.
I cast a wide net, not only examining a variety of typefaces, but how the additional text could appear in a lockup and help make the mark distinctive.
I was hired by Atlas Lens Co., makers of unique anamorphic camera lenses, to develop a box sleeve design for their Mercury Lens packaging.
A retro, vintage, sci-fi aesthetic was requested, and I was happy to oblige.
Take a look at the packaging options from the client presentation.
Hi Society designs and sells print-at-home greeting cards. It was created to serve as an outlet for my lettering and branding vices. Designs can be printed on any 8.5” by 11” sheet of paper. No trimming or cutting required. Simple, convenient, and perfect for those looking to save their ass when failing to remember a loved one’s special event.
My commute is now much shorter than this.
As a fan of blackletter typefaces, Germany, packaging, and the occasional beer, I thought a combination of these elements would be a fitting self-initiated project. Bierlin is the result. I was inspired by street art throughout Berlin and the layers of culture found throughout the city.
GIF animation of the letter H . . . as in HELLLLL (cue dark, echoing voice effects.) This Halloween-inspired, self-initiated project allowed me to explore the possibilities of dimensional type and infuse more of a story related to the letterform.
Bonus: it was also an opportunity to share exactly what I think of candy corn, long DMV lines, and single-ply toilet paper.
Custom logotype inspired by Herb Lubalin’s “festival’78” design. I fell in love with the beautiful curves and effortless flow of Mr. Lubalin’s original letterforms. All hail the 70’s.

Applying lettering ideas to paper and social media is fun, sure. But I like to mix it up every once in a while. Now if I can just find an F1 car…

This A is the second in a series of Living Letterforms - a combination of hand lettering and animation. I’m always interested in ways to make my type design more dynamic and engaging. Incorporating animation allows me to interact with type in new ways.

Grief Biscuit is not your average greeting card company.
“Just like biscuits, grief has a lot of layers. We focus on those speechless, elephant-in-the-room moments and do so with creativity, passion and a community of grievers who lend their experience to take the awkward out of awkward moments.
Grief Biscuit is a project designed to bring some light to the darkness, process to the sorrow, and community to the solitude.”
I couldn’t be more honored to contribute to such a compassionate cause.

With a client looking for a solution to continue spreading holiday cheer in lieu of mailing physical tins of popcorn, I was hired to create a digital card that would be emailed to John Martin’s select client list.
Animated popcorn was added to convey a bit of fun and whimsy. I’m still working on a way to attach the scent of freshly popped kernels.
Below are initial sketches and alternative comps.
